Connection, communication, and change

About Jeremy Courage

I deeply enjoy working with people one to one. The opportunity to get to know someone, build trust, and develop an honest relationship is a large part of what draws me to coaching.

One of my greatest passions is our capacity for intimacy: how we approach closeness, build it, and sustain it over time. For me, that includes being able to speak honestly, feel understood, and stay connected through difficult conversations and change. These are qualities we can cultivate in friendships, partnerships, families, and our relationship with ourselves.

That interest in human connection is at the heart of Sanctuary & Strength.

Where My Coaching Work Began

I began coaching in 2008, supporting professionals through career transitions and significant life changes. I worked with people facing questions about their direction and what they wanted next.

Those transitions can reach far beyond a job title. They can affect how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and the choices we feel able to make. I valued having space to explore those questions with someone individually and help them find a way forward.

Building my own coaching practice has taken more than one attempt. I’ve experienced periods of commitment and momentum, as well as frustration and uncertainty. There were times when I knew how much this work mattered to me but struggled to express what I wanted to offer.

I’ve returned to it with more experience and a stronger sense of my own voice. That history gives me respect for the effort involved in beginning again, particularly when something matters enough that an earlier disappointment still carries weight.

Helping People Navigate Change

Alongside coaching, I built a career in corporate training, working across legal services, banking, healthcare, and sales.

I’ve helped attorneys and staff adapt to new technology, guided banking teams through changes in their systems and processes, and trained healthcare professionals on unfamiliar software. My work has included classroom teaching, remote instruction, individual support, and developing materials that make complex information easier to use.

Across these settings, I’ve needed to listen, adapt my approach, and understand where someone is starting. People bring different experiences, questions, and levels of confidence to learning. Helping them take the next step requires attention to those differences.

That experience informs how I coach. I bring structure to a conversation, make room for questions, and help turn reflection into something a person can practice in daily life.

The Personal Work Behind My Approach

My own growth has involved learning to understand my feelings, communicate more directly, and relate to others with greater honesty and compassion.

I know the desire to be understood, and how easily that desire can become overexplaining or frustration. I’ve had to learn how to recognize what is happening within me, ask for what I need, and make space for another person’s experience.

I continue to practice these things. Sometimes the work is preparing for a difficult conversation. Sometimes it is returning to one, acknowledging what happened, and trying again with more clarity.

I value support that combines care with directness. Specific, honest feedback gives me something I can work with. Being listened to helps me understand myself more clearly. Accountability helps me follow through on what I say matters.

Those experiences shape the support I aim to offer others.

Working With Me

Through Sanctuary & Strength, I work with adult men who want stronger relationships, clearer communication, and greater confidence as they navigate their lives. I offer one-to-one coaching, men’s groups, and group facilitation.

Our work makes room for both reflection and action. We can explore what is happening, notice patterns, and identify choices that support the relationships and life you want to build. I bring attentive listening, practical guidance, and compassionate accountability to that process.

You can begin with a question, a transition, a difficult relationship, or a sense that something needs to change. We’ll work together to give it clearer shape and decide what comes next.

My aim is to build a working relationship in which you can speak openly, feel supported, and take responsibility for meaningful change.
